The winner of the 2025 Brian K. Martin Technical Excellence award is Tom Kramer of Nvariate. Tom has contributed to both the Persistent Identifier Vendor and User sub teams, as well as performing data review for the CAx-IF. Tom is often sought out by his colleagues for advice due to his technical expertise in the areas of Quality, Universal Unique Identifiers (UUIDs) and Persistent Identifiers (PIDs). His knowledge in these areas guided the user story development process for the PID project focusing on the needs of the Quality Manager requirements.

Because Tom is a recognized expert in both QIF and UUID,  he has played a significant role in several critical publications, such as NIST AMS 300-12, Research Results and Recommendations for Universally Unique Identifiers in Product Data Standards, where he provided pivotal feedback as a domain expert reviewer.
